Brothers, too often time and space erode the bonds of brotherhood. People move. Mail gets lost. We forget to call. Emails go unanswered. In an effort to connect us together a bit, this blog is a place to share personal news updates, post photos, ponder out loud, muse on theology, share encouragement, and post news on upcoming gatherings.

Tab and I wanted to drop an update to everyone letting you know what was up with us. We apologize for not keeping you all up to date as we've settled into Northern California life.

We are blessed by married life and so thankful the Father has allowed us to embark on this journey together. We are daily learning marriage lessons!

Thank you all who prayed for jobs! He hath provided! Tab is teaching 5th grade at a private school in the East Bay about 35 minutes away. The school year has gotten off to a good start and she enjoys what she does. I am working part-time at a fitness club. We joined a Chinese church in San Francisco and it looks like I might very well take a position there as well. There is a staff member moving this fall, so we have a couple of months to iron out details as to what would be the best fit there.

School is off to a good start for me as well. I already feel as if my mind is being stretched and challenged. But I also feel I'm learning more than just head knowledge, which is good, as I'm realizing head knowledge can only take one so far.

Many of you ask about the area. We are blessed to be in such a great place. Basically San Francisco is at the heart of the bay. In the East Bay you'll find Oakland, Berkeley, etc.

Tab works north of Berkeley. To the south of San Francisco you have San Jose, Palo Alto, the Silicon Valley, etc. And we live in Marin County crossing north over the Golden Gate Bridge about 20 minutes away. Marin is beautiful and as I walk to class I see San Francisco across the bay, provided it's not foggy. Each part of the Bay area is very unique and Marin County is very wealthy upper class for the most part.

We're so out of place! In many respects, the culture is as advertised here in the Bay area. Eclectic, postmodern, and very different from the South.
People are not necessarily hostile to the Gospel, unless you make the claim that JC is the only way, which we do! That's the rub.

We simply wanted to say hello and fill you in on what's up with us. Thank you all for supporting us in such a time of change for us. We hope to see some of you out here for a visit soon. Have a great week!

Ben and Tab
